"People often say that ideas without execution aren't worth squat. And that's not true. Ideas are worth a lot. They can be inspiring, lead to more ideas, and make you feel real good. But if your goal is to make something and put it into the world, then organization, systems, and sustained n' strategic doing 10X -- if not 1 million X -- the value of those ideas. The idea becomes an actor in the world, gives people a tangible benefit, inspires THEM to have more ideas, and makes THEM feel good. -- and money is paid to you. You see (and feel) the fruits of your labor. Because ideas take labor. The good ones do. The execution is almost the easy part. Why not do the last 1% to get the last 99% of benefit?"
"Most people quit a project not because it's hard to do the work. It's because they haven't figured out how to do it -- either in a way that will make it function, or in a way that will make daily implementation sustainable for them. They don't know how to solve this issue or that (jump this hurdle or that, smash this or that obstacle) or they don't know how to get themselves to actually sit down (or go out) and do what needs to be done. They don't know how to make things fun for themselves, how to keep spirits up, how to adopt and feel comfortable in the identity that is needed to complete it. They don't have an idea. The moving of the muscles is not difficult. Grabbing an apple off a table is easy -- but if the table is at your friend's house in Tallahassee then you gotta come up with a plan. Get some music, pick a friend to call, take the opp to learn how to whistle -- figure out a way to make the effort not feel like one. And figure out how to make looking for a plan fun too. Or you won't even get there. It all starts with an idea. The molecules will move on their own."
"The identity of the dreamer is a great one. You're a bard. You're beautiful. You live in the realm of possibility and awe. As you look at the precipice from initial spark to rolling up your sleeves, you think 'Oh... I'm done dreaming. Now it's time to join the ranks.' But that's absurd. Every step of the way, your mind will have to wander. Feelings will arise that will guide you from one lily pad to the next. Every bounce and skip will need 100% of your dreaming capacity and skill to move forward. When you step into what people call 'doing mode', you aren't stopping the dream. You need to dream more than ever, because every piece needs new paths, new sensibilities, new wonder. From how to get it right, to how to make it right for you -- in each moment. Doers have more dreams than dreamers who don't do. Something to remember."
